Longest Heat Wave In Years Begins Sunday
Below is the 0z run of the GFS MEX MOS guidance for Lafayette. It's worth noting that the temperatures (bolded in red) and dewpoints (bolded in blue) it is predicting could be underdone. Even so, for example, a temperature of 93º with a dewpoint of 75º yields a heat index value of 103º. As you can see, that will be the norm for the entire week. I think it is in the realm of possibilities that heat index values will be 105º or greater for the duration of next week...even continuing through the following weekend. Values over 105º are dangerous and if you plan on doing any outdoor activities take precautions. Info on heat waves and their effects: http://www.weather.gov/om/heat/index.shtml
