If we use the "unofficial" definition of 3 consecutive days at or above 90º as a heat wave, we've had 4 such instances here in Lafayette this summer.
June 6-8...90º, 94º, 95º
July 17-23...93º, 94º, 97º, 98º, 101º, 98º, 95º
July 26-28...91º, 92º, 95º
July 30-August 2...92º, 95º, 93º, 95º
The last time we had at least 3 heat waves in a summer was 2007.
July 31-August 3...91º, 93º, 93º, 92º
August 5-13...93º, 94º, 98º, 96º, 94º, 92º, 93º, 98º, 90º
August 22-24...94º, 94º, 93º
I don't see any heat waves for the next 7-10 days. Matter of fact, temperatures look to be getting closer to seasonal levels as we go through early next week.
